Oncology Advances

Teaching Methodologies

The methodology adopted is of the active expository type, using slides and scientific publications for critical analysis, promoting the discussion of different therapeutic approaches in oncology and integrating the results of randomized trials into international recommendations.
The evaluation of the Course Unit will be written with evaluation and integration of clinical, imaging, anatomopathological and molecular biology information in the selection of different therapeutic strategies in different pathological areas.

Learning Results

– The student must acquire knowledge:
• In-depth on the latest therapeutic modalities in Oncology.
• In-depth on recent and innovative therapeutic associations in Oncology.
– The student must acquire skills:
• Specialized in order to recognize and develop critical thinking for the integration of clinical information with the
different therapeutic lines in Oncology.
– The student must acquire competences to:
• Selecting differentiated and individualized therapies for the oncology patient, based on the most recent advances in Oncology.
• Use tools such as next generation sequencing to individualize therapy.
• Evaluate the results of randomized clinical trials in Oncology, integrating them into the most recent international recommendations.

Program

• Metabolic pathways involved and modulated by new therapies in Oncology
• Recent advances in systemic therapy in Oncology
• Recent advances in Radioncology
• Recent advances in the surgical approach to cancer patients
• Integration of advances in molecular biology and pathological anatomy in the definition of therapeutics and prognosis for cancer patients
• Approach to the most recent therapies by pathological area
• Integration of results from randomized clinical trials in Oncology into international recommendations for the treatment of cancer patients by pathological area
