Teaching Methodologies

Oral exposition of concepts/subjects with question answering under a practical/theoretical approach. Teaching methodology will be predominantly practical, with explanatory classes by the professor and participation of the students through assignments during the classes and homework. Use of multimedia contents, textbooks of Portuguese learning (1st to 6st grade) and literary texts selected by the professor, with support material delivered in paper format.
Continuous evaluation: an oral presentation of a group assignment (40% final mark) and an oral presentation of a group assignment with a written version (60% of final mark)
or final evaluation: written exam (100% of final mark).

8. To develop writing capabilities leading to improved skills in argumentation, objectivity and exposition.
9. To practice the development of resourcefulness, fluidity, and clarity in oral and written exposition.
10. To acquire critical and analytical skills regarding textbooks.
11. To acquire methodology skills regarding research work.

1. Portuguese in the world and Europe, today.
1.1. The linguistic mosaic in Europe.
1.2. Linguistic differences/ cultural differences.
1.3. Discussion on the uses and variants of the Portuguese language, cultural conscience, and cultural-linguistic relativism.
2. Literary education in Basic Education.
2.1. Practical classes on text analysis.
3. Practical classes on writing: review, reading notes, description, questionnaire answering, question lists, argumentation, summaries, objectivity and coherence in presentations, orientation and pratice towards resourcefulness, fluidity and clarity in writing.
4. Analysis of textbooks and evaluation assignments for Basic Education students.
5. Preparation and methodology hints regarding research work.
