Base Knowledge

The completion of the Project has no previous requirements, but it is certainly recommended that the
student proves to have acquired the contents taught in the lecturing component.

Teaching Methodologies

This curricular unit does not have a regular teaching component. However, seminars are planned to help in
the development of the project and in the elaboration of its final report.

Learning Results

The Project Curricular Unit has as main objectives:
O1 – solve concrete business problems develop applied
O2 – apply techniques and develop design tools
O3 – assist in the preparation of the project report.

As specific objectives, it intends to provide:
SO1 – the in-depth study of a topic, in the fundamental scientific areas of the NCE
SO2 – promote and motivate applied research.

The key points of this UC are to provide up-to-date information and reinforce the acquisition of applied technical and scientific knowledge.

In terms of skills and competences, students will develop:
– research capacity;
– technical skills;
– systematic analysis and critical thinking;
– technical and scientific writing;
– the capacity for public exhibition of technical-scientific works.

Program

The Project/Internship Curricular Unit comprises a series of seminars aimed at topics of common interest
to most students. There are themes of transversal interest, namely those that focus on applied researchmethodologies.
Thus, essentially the following topics will be considered:
1. Methodologies for developing an applied research work;
2. Research methodologies and critical literature review;
3. Methodologies for the development of the project or internship work;

4. Data collection and processing techniques;
5. Methodologies for disseminating applied research work;
6. Seminars and open classes with experts in the core areas of the NCE.
