Project Assignment /Professional Training Period (1st semester)

The work plan for Work Project /Internship is prepared at the beginning of the 3rd semester of the Studies Cycle and includes the design, implementation and evaluation of an Health Education Program. The implementation of that program runs throughout the year with close supervision of the supervisor and / or co-supervisor and preparing the report which shall include a review of current literature and description of the implementation and evaluation of the program.
In this Curricular Unit the evaluation occurs in two stages: first, which presents and discusses the Project Work / Internship, to develop (10%); second entails the preparation and public defense of a Project Work / Internship (90%). Throughout the implementation of the Project Work / Internship and achievement of the respective Report is also defined development stages and established interim deliveries for evaluation. The report is presented and defended before a jury responsible for awarding the final grade.

To plan and to implement in the community a health education program, evaluating the results obtained. To promote The research capacity and problem solving in new and unfamiliar situations in wide multidisciplinary situations. To integrate two distinct components: the professional integration – Stage | Project – and the research / intervention work that is embodied in the design of a reasoned report based on the theory and practice experienced. The student can choose between 1) the completion of an internship in a host organization and then develop an health education program, showing an important contribution to the organization; 2) the realization of a project that focuses on the diagnosis of a problematic situation identified in the planning of an intervention in health education and the evaluation of results. This project can be realized in organizational environment.

The internship lasts at least 4 months in an organization, public or private, listed or proposed by the student by the school. The internship takes place in Portugal or abroad, integrated into Erasmus mobility program for internships. In project modality it is not defined a minimum duration. The orientation is done by teachers in charge, and, in the case of the Internship, is supervised by an expert employed in the host organization with recognized merit and functional responsibility in the field of intervention.
