Project / Internship

Base Knowledge

All the curricular units of the stydy cycle.

Teaching Methodologies

This curricular unit is divided between tutorials activities and activities independently made by the student. With annual duration, this curricular unit works in conjunction with the seminar that occurs in the 1st semester and where the work plan for Dissertation | Project | Internship is defined; a theoretical context is developed comprising the revision of fundamental literature. The fundamental aspects and responsibilities of each party are defined in the proper regulation for Dissertation | Project | Internship. The assessment includes the elaboration and public defense of a report which corresponds to the final evaluation on this curricular unit. Previously, there is the definition of the steps for preparing the final work and intermediate deliverables for evaluation are defined. The report is presented to a jury responsible for awarding the final grade. A qualitative assessment of the supervisor is taken into account.

Learning Results

In the curricular unit of Project/Internship the student should apply the acquired knowledge and reveal research capacity and solving problems in new and unfamiliar situations, in broad multidisciplinary contexts.
This curricular unit integrates two distinct components: the employability – Internship | Project – and the research work – Dissertation, which comprises the preparation of a substantiated report based on potential theory and acquired experienced.
The student can choose between: 1) the completion of a research paper; 2) the completion of an internship in a host organization and then develop a diagnosis and / or problem solving, demonstrating a significant contribution to the organization; 3) a project that focuses on the diagnosis of a problematic situation identified in the study of a new problem or the application of methods and tools to solve a problematic situation already identified by others or by the student.

Program

The internship lasts at least 4 months in an organization, public or private, listed or proposed by the student or by the school, through the Office of Internships and Career. The stage takes place in Portugal or abroad, integrated into Erasmus mobility program for internships. In project modality it is not defined a minimum duration. The dissertation is accompanied by a designated teacher. The orientation is done by teachers in charge, and, in the case of the Internship, is supervised by an expert employed in the host organization with recognized merit and functional responsibility in the field of intervention. The work plan is defined in close coordination with the curricular unit of Seminar.
