Reciprocating Engines

Base Knowledge

Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Materials.

Teaching Methodologies

Theoretical lectures with presentation and explanation of the matters contained in the syllabus.

The practical classes include solving calculation, as well as contact with existing equipment in the laboratory.

Both in theoretical and in practical classes students are motivated to search for complementary subjects related to engines.

Learning Results

– Understand the details of construction and principles of operation as well as the ability to install, operate and know how to intervene, through simple designs in power management, consumption and environmental impact of internal combustion engines;

– Know how to meet the needs of maintenance and repair, select the different components and systems, following the technological advances;

– Know and understand the operation of engines, as well the capacity to operate and select different types of engines;

– Know how to interpret readings about engine performance;

– Have the ability to install, operate and repair engines.
