Teaching Methodologies
The course contents will be taught in sessions where the fundamental concepts that are inherent to it and the “state of the art” about them are presented. The sessions are complemented by moments of practical research of the students in on-line bibliographical bases and discussion in class of the results found. Students are also asked to carry out practical work of observation and
evaluation of spaces and equipment for games and recreation.
The e-learning platform of the school and the referenced documents will be used to study the course contents.
The assessment of this curricular unit will be performed through a work performed in the context of characterization and safety assessment of a Play and Recreational Area.
The assessment will be by frequency (AF) or examination (AE).
By frequency:
1. Individual oral assessment: 20%.
2. Practical work, group or individual – 80%.
By examination:
1. Theoretical Test – 100% Written test
Learning Results
1. To identify, classify and interpret the appropriate spaces for physical activities and motor skills and understand the necessary conditions to conduct these activities in a safely manner.
2. To study the influence of space, equipment and play materials on child development.
3. To know the organizational design of play areas and equipment types.
4. To know how to fit spaces and recreational equipment according to different levels of child development and their playing motor behaviors.

2. Types of equipment and play materials to RPS.
3. Recreation and Play Spaces’ Affordances in the development of children motor behavior.
4. RPS adequacy to different levels of child development;
5. Safety principles and standards for RPS and equipments.
6. Design and safety of RPS.
7. The (new) cybernetic RPS.
