Discussion of the syllabus in classes, by the teacher and students, and guidance of the work that will be developed for those who opt for periodic assessment.

Audiovisual media will be used in classes and support materials will be made available, on all syllabus, on the NONIO/Inforestudante platform

Periodic assessment — throughout the academic semester, consisting of an individual knowledge assessment test with a weighting of 50% and a field work, preferably in a group, with a weighting of 50% in the final grade.

Assessment by exam — assessment at the end of a training period through an individual knowledge assessment test with a weighting of 100% of the final grade.

Students whose final average is equal to or greater than 9.5 will be approved.

In the exam modality, students with a classification between 7.5 and 9.4 will be entitled to a complementary oral test.

To understand the concept of culture as a total phenomenon and its relations to those of nature and society

To compreend the concept of cultural relativism, the respect for the social and cultural diversity of Man

To understand local cultures and cultural exchanges in current societies, in the context of globalization, the relationships between majorities and minorities: influence, change/acculturation and resistance

To know the main authors, currents of Social and Cultural Anthropology and the evolution of Ethnology

To know methodological strategies – participant-observation, interview and document analysis in a broad sense – in the context of ethnographic fieldwork that make possible the knowledge of a community

To mobilize data of ethnography and ethnology for the analysis of contemporary social problems and groups

To relate the roles of the animator and the anthropologist in field research, the recognition of cultural identity, heritage and its relevance to community
