Studies in Respiratory Physiopathology II

Base Knowledge

Estudos em Fisiopatologia Respiratória 1

Teaching Methodologies

The teaching of the curricular unit is divided into three components: theoretical, theoretical-practical and a practical.
The teaching methods applied to theoretical and theoretical-practical components are a) Expository method,
in which the principles and concepts are approached as is in the proposed program, using audio visual means: b) the Interactive Method with
privileged discussion on major themes introduced in class, and allow a practical integration of theoretical
concepts.

In the practical component students are part of the multidisciplinary team in the Laboratory, under teacher
supervision, developing in real context the instrumental skills arising from the process of theoretical training.

Learning Results

At the end of the curricular unit the student should have knowledge of:
-Importance of intervention on the execution, diagnosis and interpretation of the study of respiratory function.
-Theoretical foundations in the field of analysis and interpretation of Functional Respiratory studies, detection,
analysis and interpretation of respiratory functional alterations.
-The role and importance of respiratory function exams in the diagnosis of various respiratory disorders.
-Laboratory procedures in Respiratory Function.
The student must acquire skills of:
-Perform and interpret respiratory function exams in different conditions to be carried out, in the normal, sport and
pathology.
The student must acquire competences of:
-Perform a study of complete respiratory function;
-Prepare the interpretation of its technical report.
-Perform the various techniques of assessment of respiratory function and interpret the results.
-Correlate the exam findings with the pathology.
