Teaching Methodologies

  In classes, the expository method is used in the teaching/learning process of fundamental knowledge about technical drawing. Complemented by exercises on the subjects taught with a discussion of solutions.

Learning Results

  Objectives: Provide fundamental concepts that allow students to read, understand, interpret and create drawings and technical schemes, in orthogonal projections and in perspectives. It is also intended that they become aware of the main international standards associated with Technical Drawing and that they have knowledge of the latest 2D computer-aided design programs.


    Generic skills: Promote the exchange of ideas and discussion of problems and solutions; Develop self-learning habits and organization.

     Specific skills: Know how to interpret and create drawings and technical schemes, either using traditional means or using the latest 2D computer-aided design programs.

Introduction to Drawing. Technical Drawing as a universal communication language. Technical drawing standards. Types of line. Drawing Sheets. Borders. Title blocks.  Part lists. Scales. 
2. Orthogonal projections
European and American Method. Selection of views. Auxiliary, partial, displaced and local views. Freehand drawing.
3. Cuts and sections.
Conventional interpretation. Cutting plane. Special cutting sections. Partial cutting sections. Elements that are not drawn with hatches in a section. Sections.
4. Dimensioning.
Elements of dimensioning. Dimensions insertion. Dimensioning criteria.
5. Perspectives.
Types of perspectives. Drawing of isometric perspectives. Drawing the isometric perspective of a circumference.
6. 2D Modeling with a computer-aided design (CAD) system
User interface. Constraints. Drawing and editing. Hatching. Dimensioning. Blocks.
