Teaching Methodologies

Theoretical-practical classes in the resort to the method so, in which knowledge is transmitted using the display and demonstration of materials related to each theme. Laboratory in class we use the active method, based on the principle of self-education, in which the student analyzes and tested experimental models, fostering their intellectual and practical skills. Students carry out practical work on technical interpretation of the themes in theoretical and practical. Tutorials In class, students are assisted in the exercises by clarifying questions of theoretical and practical guidance. The evaluation will be ongoing and will focus on design exercises produced during the semester, the laboratory classes. The final score of 0 to 20, is partially shared by the following parameters: Drawing exercises of detail constructive: 18 values Attendance, participation and interest: 2 values

In this academic year, we intend to introduce the methodology of Project Based Learning (PBL) in a group of subjects of the disciplinary group of Constructions. Students are intended to develop practical works within the scope of the project of a single-family house and will include several subjects, namely, Design and Construction Systems, Civil Constructions and Operations Management.

The aim is that students will start by working in the design phase of the building, developing constructive solutions and detailing them according to the rules of the art of building well and verifying compliance with the legislation in force, elaborating projects of specialties, namely, energy performance, acoustic behaviour and building water supply and drainage networks. They will then prepare the bill of quantities required to carry out the project, calculate a cost estimate, prepare the planning of all quantified and budgeted works, and finally simulate the construction through the preparation of monthly bills.

Therefore, the motto of this whole process is the fact that it is the same building and, therefore, the same project, which will allow students to have a solid and concrete application of the knowledge transmitted by a real situation.

Learning Results

Objectives: Detailing the ways of building; Translation graphic details and building materials, knowledge of
technological aspects and constructive, with the characterization of materials, components and their suitability for your application: Consolidation of the skill of rigorous design.
Generic Skills: Application and understanding in the field of representation, layout and graphic design, enabling an overall understanding of the building in parallel with the media to work.
Specific Skills: Knowledge acquisition for production design, supervision and direction of works.
