Teaching Methodologies

The methodologies to be used will include the expository method, spaces for discussion, group learning, research works, class presentations (by students), case studies and problem solving.

Learning Results

Knowledge about the main contemporary urban challenges and how to face them through city planning and management.
Development of the ability to critically analyze, from the point of view of sustainability (environmental, but also economic and social), urban spaces and environments.
Ability to propose sustainable solutions for organizing space and activities at various scales and in various areas of the city.
Development of skills in the facilitation of participatory territorial processes.

The soil as a resource: use and reuse; compact city vs scattered city.
Planning for sustainability: urban form and sustainability; zoning vs. mixed use (and its applicability); sustainable urban patterns (morphology)
Urban design: inducer of relationships and behaviors (instrument of social inclusion and transformation): green cities
Public spaces: sustainable design; green spaces and biodiversity.
Sustainable planning as a process: evolution of planning processes; governance structures; collaborative / participatory approaches; indicators.
Built environment: the new vs the rehabilitated (circular economy logic); codes / regulations for sustainability.
Urban resilience and city planning.
