Vestibular rehabilitation

Base Knowledge

– Anatomophysiology of the peripheral and central vestibular system;

– Clinical evaluation of the patient with vestibular symptoms;

– Analysis and interpretation of vestibular assessment tests;

– Relate the results of the vestibular evaluation tests with the vestibular syndromes and symptoms.

Teaching Methodologies

Expository and interactive classes between the teacher and students, integrating theoretical and practical content through clinical cases and video analysis.

The practical classes allow the consolidation of the knowledge obtained in the theoretical-practical classes, with observation of real clinical cases in a hospital environment and practical activities such as role-play, which will allow students to understand the difficulties experienced in people with vestibular disorders and which strategies to use in the vestibular rehabilitation process.

Learning Results

– To aqcuire knowledge on the principles of vertibular rehabilitation, its indications and contraindications;
– To know the equipments and strategies avaiable to use in vestibular rehabilitation;
– To know how to do individual plans to each clinical case;
– To know the role of the Audiology licentiate in a vestibular rehabilitation inter-disciplinar team.
