Water Management in Agricultural Systems

Base Knowledge

Degree in agricultural, forestry or similar course.

Teaching Methodologies

Oral exposition – used for the presentation of teaching content detailing principles and fundamentals, illustrated with practical cases, with the support of video projection of schemes and images.
Solving numerical calculation problems – used for the development of reasoning skills specific to the subject of the curricular unit.

Learning Results

The objective of this curricular unit is to promote the following skills in the student:
1) Know the problem of water in the context of agricultural production and the interactions with water resources and the environment.
2) Knows methods for calculating the water needs of crops and water-production relationships.
3) Knows irrigation and drainage techniques.
4) Knows the environmental impacts of water use in agriculture and the techniques for mitigating the main problems of water and soil conservation.
5) Knows methods of managing hydro-agricultural developments.
