Microaccreditation in Intervention in Pediatric Audiology

Course Objectives

The Microaccreditation course in Child Audiology Intervention arises from the need for audiological assessment and intervention in children, which is of high technical-scientific complexity and a challenge to respond to the special needs of each child. In today’s society, it is less and less frequent for Audiologists to embark on this specific area of Audiology despite the needs of the labor market, one of the reasons given being the lack of specific training in Child Audiology, namely in the area of auditory re(h)habilitation. It turns out that the most recent international guidelines, which highlights the Position of the Joint Committee on Infant Hearing (JCIH) 2019, point to early auditory intervention in children up to 3 months of age. It therefore becomes a priority to provide Audiologists who work both in the clinical context and in the area of auditory re(h)habilitation with effective tools to overcome the challenges of an increasingly early intervention, which has been assuming an increasingly important role. essential in different health systems.
The micro-accreditation Course: Intervention in Child Audiology consists of two curricular units, the first covering the assessment from the Universal Neonatal Hearing Screening (RANU) to the differential diagnosis between hearing impairment and other clinical entities such as hyperactivity and hearing loss. of attention, dyslexia and autism. The second curricular unit focuses on Child Auditory Re(h)habilitation, ranging from neurodevelopment and auditory stimulation, to cortical (re)organization in contexts of sensory deprivation with emphasis on protocols and strategies that are more adjusted to the needs of these children. and their families.
