Bachelor in Industrial Informatics

Course Objectives

This degree aims to train professionals qualified to analyze and understand the functioning of industrial equipments. These professionals should have the skills to select, program, install and maintain informatic and electronic equipment for the industry, alone or in a team.
So, the generic objectives are:
– Develop analysis and understanding skills in the areas of information management, human and material resources;
– Develop problem-solving skills using the suited technological tools;
– Confer on the students the ability to manage the relevant data, so that they are able to propose and substantiate solutions and opinions, including in the technical analysis, social, scientific and ethical aspects;
– Develop skills that allow the students to communicate with different audiences;
– Develop skills to learn throughout life, with a high degree of autonomy.
– Develop leadership and teamwork skills;
– Encourage entrepreneurship and innovation.

Access Conditions

Entrance exams (one of the three options): 16 Mathematics or 07 Physics and Chemistry and 16 Mathematics or 02 Biology and Geology and 16 Mathematics. Minimum classification: application note – 95 points; entrance exams – 95 points. Calculation formula: secondary average – 65%; entrance exams – 35%. Prerequisites for ranking: not applicable. Regional preference: area of influence – Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Guarda and Viseu; percentage of admissions – 30%.

Learning Objectives

Based on the general objectives of the study cycle, the graduate in Industrial Informatics should achieve the following learning and skills:
– Solid knowledge of computer systems and technologies, electronics, automation, machine instrumentation, digital networks, organization functioning, legislation, databases, data analysis, and project and development of industrial computer systems;
– Information analysis skills, to obtain production indicators and process indicators;
– Understanding of technical and organizational functioning of an industrial unit;
– Ability to analyze, plan, implement solutions and control results, demonstrating a professional approach to the work of planning, developing and administering computer systems in organizations;
– Ability to solve problems, develop solutions and formulate reasoned reasoning, based on multiple sources of information and using the appropriate technological tools;
– Ability to communicate with different audiences and to work both individually and as a team.

Access to Superior Studies

The bachelor’s degree allows access to the 2nd cycle of studies leading to the master’s degree.
