Teaching Methodologies

In this curricular unit, theoretical classes and practical classes are taught. In the first ones a more expositive feature is taught. In the second ones, doubts of the students are solved and practical exercises related to topics previously addressed in theoretical classes are resolved.

Learning Results

Objectives of the course unit:

The curricular unit aims to provide students with basic mental frameworks at the level of concepts, principles and normative legal solutions that should be considered most relevant for understanding the Portuguese legal system underlying the legal-administrative relationship, from a legal, doctrinal and jurisprudential perspective.

Skills to acquire:

a) – Understand the meanings of Public Administration;

b) – Understand the separation of powers and the material separation of State functions, from a legal, doctrinal and jurisprudential perspective.

c) – Know the Portuguese administrative organization, from a legal perspective.

d) – Understand the meaning and scope of the legal principles that underlie Public Administration, in particular, the principle of the legality of Administration;

e) – Acquire a global view of the main forms of administrative activity under Public Law (regulations, acts and administrative contracts) and, in particular, the respective procedures.
