Base Knowledge
Knowledge acquired in all curricular units that constitute the components of general and scientific training and technical training.
Teaching Methodologies
This curricular unit is divided between tutorials activities and activities independently made by the student. The fundamental aspects and responsibilities of each party: student, advisor, supervisor and school, are defined in the proper regulation for Internship/Project.
Despite the specificity of this curricular unit, there is a predominance of verbal (say), intuitive (show) and active (do) methodologies.
Learning Results
It is expected that at the end of the UC each student, relative to the fundamental áreas of the course, is able to:
– Apply knowledge, skills and competences acquired in the remaining curricular units of the study cycle, showing a professional approach to work developed;
– Solve problems, build and defend its argument;
– Be able to prepare information, to defend solutions and opinions;
– Operate with different audiences;
– Develop academic training and socio-professional skills;
– In the case of an internship, contribute to an easier placement of the student in the labor market, giving them a minimum professional experience in a real work situation
– In the case of the project, enhance employability, focusing on the diagnosis of a problematic situation identified in the study of a new problem or the application of methods and tools to solve a problematic situation already identified by others or by the student.
Program
The training in the work context of the Internship must have at least 640 hours in an organization, public or private, listed or proposed by the student or by the school, through the Office of Internships and Career. The internship takes place in Portugal or abroad, integrated into Erasmus mobility program for internships. In project modality it is not defined a minimum duration.
The on-the-job training component is carried out in selected host entities based on suitability criteria, as well as on the adequacy of the entity’s activity to the knowledge acquired in the other acedemic componentes. Thus, the specific study program is conditioned to the economic activity and the type of host entity, and an individual work plan is prepared for each student.
The orientation is done by teachers in charge, and, in the case of the Internship, is supervised by an expert employed in the host organization with recognized merit and functional responsibility in the field of intervention. The work plan is defined in close coordination between the professor-supervisor and the host organization.
All work carried out will be subject to a detailed report, to be prepared by the student, within the defined deadlines.
