Evaluation and Differential Diagnosis in Physiotherapy

Base Knowledge

This course is based on the student’s acquisition of knowledge in identifying, interpreting and selecting tests for assessment and diagnosis of movement system dysfunctions, activity limitations and participation restrictions, and relationship with health condition and contextual factors, as well as its categorization based on the descriptors pointed in the literature to diagnose motion system problems. Thus:
The student will be able to interpret and select from a variety of tests to assess and diagnose movement problems that best suit the case and condition, as well as the option of referral to another professional if appropriate;
The student will be able to use the descriptors pointed in the literature to diagnose movement system problems.

Teaching Methodologies

Theoretical and practical lectures (T10; T / P20) aimed to knowledge about clinical movement tests and instruments for movement system dysfunctions Diagnosis in physiotherapy and developing the ability to interpret them in the diagnostic process in physiotherapy.
Supporting material: copy of slides and supporting bibliography.

Learning Results

• Collect and analyze data, hypothesize, categorize problems and make decisions based on the movement system;
• Justify the choice of evaluation and diagnosis tests of movement system problems commonly found in the clinical practice of physiotherapy;
• Critically analyze the literature on tests and instruments for assessment and diagnosis of movement problems and apply this evidence-based knowledge;
• Analyze tests and categorize the movement system problems;
• Integrate assessment and diagnosis of movement system-related problems into clinical practice.
