Teaching Methodologies

In classes, the expository and inquisitive method are used to explain theoretical subjects and there will be individual and group resolution of simple exercises.
Students must carry out a research work with a report and oral presentation, which may be carried out in groups. There is supervision of students, by clarifying doubts, solving exercises and guiding research work. Study visits will be carried out whenever possible. In some classes, students attend demonstrations of in situ tests and produce, present and defend research work.

Learning Results

The goals of the unit are the technology of earth supporting structures and foundations.

Generic skills: application of knowledge and understanding; Realization of judgment and decision making; Self learning; Teamwork; Oral and written communication.

Specific skills: Analyze and understand the functioning of foundations and earth support structures. Recognize, diagnose and prevent geotechnical and structural pathologies in constructions, on what concerns foundations and soils support. In the case of rigid walls and shallow foundations, students will have the skills to designing, supervision, management and repair of works.
