Teaching Methodologies

his curriculum unit will be thaught in form of practical classes in a lighting laboratory, where students will have the opportunity to handle and set up real equipment. The practical activities will be complemented by group discussions, analysis of scenic lighting examples and individual opinion on the exercises.

The evaluation of the students will be continuous and in person, based on the active participation in practical classes, the execution of proposed exercises, the creativity demonstrated in practical projects, as well as the ability to apply acquired knowledge to solve practical challenges related to stage lighting. In addition, the students will have to create a portfolio and  a final report, which will be evaluated.

Methods of evaluation and calculation of final classification:

Performance – 50%

Portfolio and Report – 30%

Attendance, punctuality, autonomy – 20%

Learning Results

This curriculum unit aims to provide students with solid knowledge of the basic principles of scenic lighting, to develop the practical skills necessary to work with lighting equipment, and to foster creative abilities in applying this knowledge in performative contexts.

1. Identify the main characteristics of conventional lighting equipment. 2. Exploration of lighting concepts. 3. Exploration of conventional lighting equipment. 4. Exploration of basic light programming. 5. Understand techniques and methods of assembling and disassembling, focusing, and operating stage lighting systems.

Basic concepts of manual and digital lightboards. 5. Operation of lighting equipment. 6. Support structures for lighting equipment. 7. Creation of lighting concepts using lighting equipment. 8. Creation of lighting concepts using basic light programming. 9. Practice of techniques and methods of assembling and disassembling, focusing, and operating stage lighting systems. 10. Exercises and practical lighting project.
