Teaching Methodologies
After a detailed theoretical framework of the subjects, a teaching method with a high practical component is privileged, supported by the realization of small pedagogical exercises and the analysis and discussion of real cases related to the different topics of the program.
Learning Results
This course unit aims to explain the management principles of the different types of Financial Institutions, namely of the Credit Institutions. For this purpose, it is intended that students understand the legal framework that shapes them, the main business areas in which they operate, the different types of risk to which they are subject, the possible ways to try to mitigate them, and the current and future trends in what manner they develop their business areas.
Within the scope of this course unit, students should acquire the following skills:
- Recognize the key legal aspects that guide the activity of the different types of Financial Institutions.
- Understand the nature of its core business areas and respective future trends in terms of its operational management practices.
- Recognize the main risks to which they are subject, and the ways and financial instruments to try to mitigate them.
- Learn the leading techniques and metrics of economic and financial analysis of the Credit Institutions.

2. The role of Credit Institutions within the Eurosystem.
3. Recent trends in “banking”.
II – OPERATIONS AND RISK MANAGEMENT IN CREDIT INSTITUTIONS
4. Characterisation of the main active and passive operations.
5. Analysis and management of the various types of risk in “banking”.
III – EVALUATION OF THE ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF A CREDIT INSTITUTION
