Pediatric Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy

This UC is TP promoting the discussion of case studies for each modality.
Students took a written test containing procedures and cases to be selected for the improvement of practices in pediatrics.

Knowledge:
– In-depth knowledge about the needs for adaptations of procedures for different pediatric ages;
– In-depth knowledge of protocol and procedures in most common paediatric clinical situations
Skills:
– recognize and develop critical thinking about paediatric particularities
– Apply exposure values appropriate to clinical situations and paediatric categorisation.
Competences:
– Promote the creation of dedicated paediatric protocol in team
– Put into practice exclusively paediatric rules and procedures.

• Specificities and adequacy of procedures and protocols in General Radiology, Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance in the pediatric context
• Pediatric procedures guided by fluoroscopy
• Standards and procedures in pediatric nuclear medicine
• Particularities of dose prescription in pediatrics for treatment
• Cancer pathology most often treated in RT
• Dosimetric and technical particularities in Pediatric Radioncology
