Teaching Methodologies

The course contact time will include:
(i) sessions in the format of thematic seminars, organized by specific multidisciplinary subjects; sessions will be conducted by teachers from the several areas and by invited experts, occurring at the beginning of the semester; In 2022/23 this can be achieved by participating in a blended international learning project.
(ii) sessions / tutorials classes (later to seminars or partially interleaved), where individual learning skills will be explored, as well as capabilities to organize and develop studies and projects; these sessions will be taught by teachers of the respective subject areas.
(iii) public sessions of presentation and discussion of works performed by each student, at the end of the semester.

Learning Results

Objectives: To learn transversal complementary subjects related with different areas, covered in thematic seminars
and focused in sustainable management and rehabilitation of cities, including innovations and respective procedures
and execution or implementation rules. Increase knowledge of specific subjects in one of the areas of the course by
developing a study / project. Provide specialized technological expertise and develop critical capacity.
Generic skills: Acquisition of knowledge and understanding; realization of judgment and decision making; ensure quality
and safety; communication, selflearning,
presentation and discussion skills.
Specific Skills: knowledge and understanding capacity in the proposed teaching areas; skills in developing studies or
projects focused on specific topics; project following skills.

Program

1. Specialized complementary knowledge, addressed in format of multidisciplinary thematic seminars, by covering the course knowledge areas [(i) structural mechanics; (ii) construction; (iii) geotechnics; (iv) hydraulics, environment and water resources; (v) territory and
transport] but not only. This part can be fulfilled by participating in a international project (BIP)
 
2. Development of a study or a project in a course teaching area, with accompanying lessons or tutorials sessions conducted by teachers: (i) constitution and stages of a study or a project; (ii) selection and approach to the subject; (iii) organization and development of the work.
 
3. Presentation and discussion of the study or of the design project in public sessions.
 
 
The student can also decide to join a 4-week training period, whose report will also be valued (if it is not done in the context of the project mentioned above)
