Case Studies in Thoraco-Abdominal-Pelvic CIMR system

Base Knowledge

Students must demonstrate knowledge and about the subjects taught in the Curricular Units (CU) of the Degree in Medical Image and Radiotherapy from previous years. This CU intends to allow students to deepen, correlate and develop clinical reasoning about the contents taught, such as Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and/or Technical methodologies in the areas of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.

Teaching Methodologies

Teaching will allow you to explore, describe, explain, evaluate and/or transform the contents of the program.

The theoretical-practical classes aim to deepen and correlate knowledge of the different modalities of medical imaging and their applicability to pathologies of the system in question.

In the practical classes, students must apply and assess the knowledge acquired, in solving specific cases and understanding the event under study, and at the same time develop more generic theories about the phenomenon observed. Development of the methodology for evaluating clinical cases in a pedagogical climate of continuous training, transdisciplinary applying the knowledge integrated throughout previous training. In this evaluation component, the student must participate in all tasks of the method.

There will also be classes related to evaluation/discussion of images, with pathology, referring to the system in question.

Learning Results

The student must acquire knowledge about:

• The different types of Medical Imaging of the Thoraco-abdominal-pelvic System in normal and pathological situation

• Identification of Imaging signals and recognizes their changes.

The student must acquire skills for:

• Assess pathological changes in different Imaging modalities

• Proceed according to what is established on the proper diagnosis within your multidisciplinary team.

The student must acquire competences for:

• Support in the selection of the most appropriate Imaging examination for each pathology

• Adapt the Protocol to clinical information

• Identify Imaging changes

• Evaluate the results of the examinations carried out

• Proceed according to established practices.
