Master in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy

Course Objectives

Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy (MIR) Master aims to promote depth and especialised skills in MIR to graduates in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, Radiology and Radiotherapy in accordance whit the recommendations of the A3ES working group and also contributing to the strengthening of professional and academic identity in this field.
This proposal is novel and aims to achieve consolidation and differentiation in professional practice. It was created according to the lines of follow-up of the 1st cycle, and complies with the recommendations described in the Academic Competencies Reference for the Master’s Degree in MIR, included on de document Academic Competencies Reference, Health Sciences and Technologies, a publication by ESTeSC, ESTESL and ESS -PP (2016). This course also follow the recommendations defined by the European Federation Of Radiographers Societies (EFRS) defined in the European Qualifications Framework Level 7, Benchmarking Document: Radiographers (2017).

Access Conditions

In accordance with the Academic Regulation 2nd cycle of studies courses of IPC, can apply for access to the cycle of studies leading to a master’s degree: a) Holders of a degree in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, Radiology and Radiotherapy or their legal equivalents; b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree, awarded following a 1st cycle of studies in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy, organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this Process; c) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized by the ESTeSC-IPC technical-scientific council as satisfying the objectives of the degree in medical imaging and radiotherapy; d) Holder of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized by the scientific technical council of ESTeSC-IPC, attesting to the ability to carry out the course.

Learning Objectives

With this course student will be able to demonstrate:
a) Plan to carry out diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, together with the other group of health professionals with which it is integrated, with the available and/or appropriate technological resources, in a safe and effective way, as well as proceeding with the analysis and interpretation of results;
b) Develop new strategic approaches, in innovative contexts of practical exercise and research, based on clinical, scientific and technological evidence.
c) Contribute to the improvement of professional practices and the production of knowledge;
d) Demonstrate skills in technical-scientific communication and critical analysis, in different contexts;
e) Acquire, develop and deepen research skills, in the area of the study cycle field in accordance with ethical and deontological principles.

This qualification allows access to the degree of Doctor (3rd Cycle of Studies)
