Course Objectives
Veterinary Nursing degree aims to provide a solid scientific, theoretical and applied training in veterinary nursing, through the acquisition of knowledge in the areas of anatomy, physiology, reproduction, nutrition, signs of well-being, health and disease of livestock, sports animals, pets, exotic and even wild animals, when in sporadic situations of captivity.
It aims to prepare professionals with technical, scientific and human
skills to provide veterinary nursing care to different animal species. It aims the acquisition of skills that will allow them to work in multidisciplinary teams with veterinary surgeons and persons from other academic training related to animal production such as agronomy, zootechnical and agricultural engineering.
Access Conditions
Admission exams in the general access:

Biology exam, for the following special competition access:
over 23 years old.
General Component and Mathematics Exam or General Component and Biology Exam:

holders of a Higher Professional Technician Course Diploma (DTeSP) or a higher education degree.
Technological Specialization Course (DET) Diploma holders

Learning Objectives
The LEV study cycle seeks to prepare professionals for the immediate exercising of Veterinary Nursing profession.
Its learning outcomes are:
-To acquire knowledge about anatomy, physiology, nutrition, reproduction, pathogens, laboratory techniques, pharmacology and welfare in different animal species.
-To know the signs of health and of disease of the animals and to provide correct conditions of well-being to the patient.
– Acting in a multidisciplinary team in the prevention and medical
or surgical treatment of diseases of different etiologies.
– To know and to execute some of the complementary
diagnostic techniques as indicated by the veterinary surgeon.
– Perform procedures of animal grooming according to
species and with good animal welfare.
-Understand the functions of a receptionist, providing services to the client at the reception desk and in preparing and maintaining practice and patient records.
-Know to communicate efficiently with colleagues and animal guardians.
Access to Superior Studies
The bachelor’s degree allows the access to graduate degrees, namely to the 2nd cycle of studies leading to the Master’s degree.
