Master in Clinical Physiology

Course Objectives

The Master in Clinical Physiology takes on a professionalizing model, corresponding to a coherent set of study areas of clinical and professional specialization, which correspond to greater requirements for employability in professional practice. This Master’s objective is to provide Graduates in Clinical Physiology, Cardiopneumology or Neurophysiology, with a reinforced framework of professional skills, of technological and scientific basis, leading to in-depth and specialized knowledge in three major areas of interest: Cardiovascular Physiology, Sleep Physiology and Neurophysiology.

Access Conditions

In accordance with the Academic Regulation 2nd cycle of studies courses of IPC, the following may apply for access to the study cycle leading to a Master’s degree: a. Holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Physiology, Cardiopneumology, Neurophysiology or their legal equivalents; B. Holders of a foreign higher academic degree awarded following a first cycle of studies in Clinical Physiology, organized according to the principles of the Bologna process by a state adhering to this process; ç. Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized by the scientific technical council of ESTeSC-IPC as meeting the objectives of the degree in Clinical Physiology; d. Holder of a school, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized by the scientific technical council of ESTeSC–IPC, attesting to the ability to carry out the course.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the programme, the student must be able to:
a) Plan and carry out diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the area of specialization of the study cycle, in a multidisciplinary setting, relying on state-of-the art technological resources, in a safe and effective manner, as well as to analyse and interpret the results and to integrate them into the global clinical set;
b) Develop new strategic approaches in innovative contexts of practical exercise and research, based on the clinical, scientific and technological evidences;
c) Contribute to the improvement of professional practices and the production of state-of-the art knowledge;
d) Demonstrate skills for technical and scientific communication, and critical analysis, in different contexts;
e) Acquire, develop and deepen research skills, in the areas of specialization of the study cycle, according to ethical and deontological principles.

Access to Superior Studies

This qualification allows access to the degree of Doctor (3rd Cycle of Studies)
