Access Conditions
The national contest of access to public higher education, with admission exams in the following sets: 02 Biology and Geology or 02 Biology and Geology and 07 Physics and Chemistry or 02 Biology and Geology and 16 Mathematics. For the application is required the minimum rating of 95 points, in the admission test and application note, expressed on a scale of 0 to 200 points. The formula for calculating comprises 65% of the high school average and 35% of admission test. Regional preference corresponds to 20% of the vacancies, within the area of influence of Aveiro, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Guarda, Leiria and Viseu.
Professional Outlets
The completion of the degree’s syllabus on Biomedical Laboratory Sciences entitles the admission to the professions of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences technician and Technician of Pathological, Cytological and Thanatological Anatomy regulated by Decree-Laws 261/93 of 24 July, and 320/1999, of August 11, under the Dispatch 9409/2014 of 21st july. The professional card shall be required to the Ministry of Health through the CAHS (Central Administration of the Health System).

Learning Objectives
The graduate should hold an in-depth knowledge in the Biomedical Laboratory Sciences field and develop a critical spirit of the theories and principles of the scientific area. Students must demonstrate skills alluding to cognitive knowledge (use of logical, intuitive and creative thinking) and practical (manual dexterity and manipulation of laboratory equipment), producing professionals able to solve complex and unpredictable problems in their scientific field of expertise. The profile of competencies to be acquired by the graduate in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences has as reference the defined in Ordinance No. 782/2009 of 23 July, as well as the competencies adopted by International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science (IFBLS), respecting the professional content contained in Portuguese legislation for the Clinical Analysis and Public Health Technician and Pathological, Cytological and Thanatological Anatomy (Decree-Law No. 564/99 of 21 December).
Access to Superior Studies
The graduate degree allows the application to postgraduate studies.
